In light of the devastation of Houston and the surrounding areas from Hurricane Harvey, Elmington decided to add an additional fundraiser to their list in 2017 and partner with Hatching Hope. Hatching Hope is an organization based in Birmingham, AL that provides supplies to residents of apartments communities who have been displaced due to natural disasters. We raised over $3,000 for this cause and hope to raise more.
Pelotonia Bike Race
We learned about this opportunity through Dan Ford, President of Elmington Property Management. Pelotonia is a 100-mile bike race to raise awareness and money for cancer research. When we found out Dan was riding in it, we knew we had to participate. Elmington raised over $3,000 for Dan's ride, blowing his goal out of the water!!
Backpack Drive - Year 2
July and August of 2017 brought what we called a "Double Donation Feature". We chose to do both an item and monetary donation opportunity. We held our second annual Build-a-Backpack Challenge and raised over $5,000 worth of school supplies. For our properties, they were allowed to donate to the organization of their choice. The corporate office chose to partner with LP Pencil Box, an organization in which teachers from the Metro Nashville school district can come shop for supplies for both their classroom and their students.
Canned Food Drive - Year 3
Our first-ever Third Annual event came this year! We once again hosted our food drive in which the entire company participated. This year we chose to pit our Regions up against eachother (we like a little competition around here!) and ended up getting over $5,000 worth of cans donated.
Elevates for the ADA
After one of our employees lost her husband to diabetes, we chose to support the American Diabetes Association this June. After sending out the email regarding where our donations would be going, it was amazing how many of our employees reached out to tell the story about how their lives had been impacted by diabetes, whether personal or otherwise. We raised almost $3,300 for this cause.
FunRaise February - Year 2
Our first Elevates event for 2017 was FunRaise for Heart, FunRaise for Stroke. This particular event was one of our highest contributed, coming in at $6,830 in donations!
Very Merry Toyfest, Year 2
After the great success that was 2015 Toyfest, we knew a couple things: we wanted to continue to do things bigger, and we wanted to continue to to them better. We moved locations to a bigger space, reached out to even more sponsors, and got even more volunteers. We ended up with over $20,000 in donations, both internally and externally and with that money benefited more than 300 families. We can't wait to see what the next year brings!
Elevates for Louisiana Floods
In the wake of the 2016 floods in Louisiana, Elevates decided to add an extra event to support the Red Cross in their disaster relief efforts. We set a pretty lofty goal and within 24 hours, it was met. We decided to up the goal, and once again it was met, with even more enthusiasm! It was incrediable the way our employees came together and shared their "Done!"s on our emails back and forth...it almost became a competition! We ended up raising over $5,000 for the floods and had 270 employees - over 1/2 the company - contribute.
We challenged our properties to come together and build-a-backpack together during our August 2016 Elevates Event. Many of our properties went above and beyond this challenge, providing backpacks for entire families and, in some cases, their entire community! We ended up with a total of 600 backpacks built and 164 employees who contributed.
Canned Food Drive
We beefed up our goal in 2016 for the annual canned food drive and it paid off! We had a total of 8,000 cans donated across our corporate office and portfolio.
FunRaise for Heart & Stroke Health
In February 2015, Elmington partnered with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to donate money and bring awareness to heart disease. We raised over $4,300, and many employees wore red in support.
charity : water
Elmington partnered with Charity:Water in Spring of 2016 to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 153 contributors raised over $2,800 for this cause.
Very Merry Toyfest, Year 1
2015 was our first year to host the Very Merry Toyfest and we did so in partnership with Woodbine Community Center and the Midtown Police Precinct to benefit the children of Edgehill apartments.
In 2015, we had 38 external contributors, $11,950 external donations and close to 1,800 toys handed out to the families of Edgehill!
Canned Food Drive
This was our inaugural Elevates Event! Held in June of 2015, Elmington had a total of 5000 cans received.
